Accommodation

Home Comfort

The extensive energy storage system and large solar array provide the same level of comfort on the water as a home on land—without the usual compromises or energy concerns of conventional long-distance boats. Cooking is effortless with a three-burner Siemens induction hob, a full-size AEG electric oven, and a gas grill at the stern.

For household convenience, the boat is equipped with a Moulinex bread maker, a DeLonghi Eletta fully automatic coffee machine, a Miele WT-1 washer-dryer with an 8 kg capacity, a Bosch dishwasher, a microwave with a grill, an ice cube maker, and a Moulinex juicer. The spacious refrigerator drawers, outdoor fridge, and freezer operate on 12V DC.

Fresh drinking water is supplied by an Aquabase SLCE 180 l/h desalination system, which can be powered directly from the battery bank via the inverter. On sunny days, solar energy is sufficient to sustain its 3 kW output. The system has been used for approximately 300 hours. Hot water is provided by a 60-liter boiler running on 230V AC.

Mechanical and Rigging

The vessel is powered by two Oceanvolt SD-15 electric motors, running on a 3000W solar system and hydroregeneration. A 21 kW Fischer Panda diesel generator serves as a backup for cloudy days. Energy is stored in a 48V, 25 kWh LiFePO4 battery bank (12 Super B 160 Ah, with approximately 850 cycles from a total lifespan of 8000-10,000 cycles).

Two Victron MPPT solar chargers manage to charge the Oceanvolt motors' hydro regeneration while sailing, the generator, or shore power via an 8 kW Victron Quattro charger/inverter. The solar system generates 8-12 kWh daily, fully covering energy needs. The electric motors provide a top speed of 7.3 knots and a cruising speed of 5. Unlike diesel engines, they offer quiet, low-maintenance operation, precise manoeuvring at low speeds, and unlimited range in sunny conditions.
